A serious case of domestic violence

A mother went and informed the police as her son  A, was well beaten with a belt leaving visible scars.  A is the step son of this man. The man has another son B with this woman and never allowed B to have friends. This man had earlier held a gun pointing it to this woman throat that he would slashed her neck if she ever dared said she wants to take the children abroad for holiday. B had stated that he wishes that his father should go to jail and be treated badly so that he could understand what they have been going through as a family.The abuse had been going on for 16 years. at one point this woman had fled the home to a refuge but this man would plead and ask for forgiveness that he would not abuse them anymore. This time around the woman had taken every precaution not to let this man in his life and that of the children. This man recently saw his step son at the train station , grabbed the boy's shirt and demanded that he should tell where his mother was and that he would deal with the family. This was reported to the police and he was not charged because the little boy had stated that he was not intimidated by the man. The woman had also refused to move home stating that they are more stable at their home, and  the home is very near to the children's school. the woman has got a special phone from the police, where if she is attacked, the police would be alerted immediately.

A child seriously beaten for ruining his school schools

This little boy of 8 years old has been ruining his school shoes by playing football everyday at school. The father stated that he has had to buy him new shoes every now and then. This one faithful afternoon the child came back home late from school after staying behind and was playing football. The school shoes were once  again  ruined after new ones were bought just a week ago. The father lost his temper and get the child well beaten with a belt.The father after dropping the child at school the following morning informed the teachers that his son was not feeling well and is not allowed to do sports. Knowing this little boy who loves playing his games, he told the teacher that he is ok and really want to play. When he undressed , waoooo fresh marks were seen on his body and the police were alerted. A medical was conducted and the doctor stated that for his 25 years of working , he has never seen a child being physically chastised in that manner.

Whilst I will continue with how this case progresses later, but, in your view, should this man go to prison?
